Microvarices

Microvarices

Popularly known as "spills", they are very frequent and can be corrected by laser.

What are they?

Microvaricose veins, also popularly known as "spilling" of the legs, are very frequent, especially in females, and cause problems of an aesthetic nature. They are often one of the manifestations of varicose disease of the lower limbs and as such, the situation should be studied by the Vascular Surgeon. The latter, through clinical examination, and when necessary by resorting to special examinations, will determine the "extent" of the pathology and assess the need for surgery, which, when justified, will be the initial step. When there is no disease of larger veins, or after treatment, chemical sclerosis of dilated veins may be used, which consists of the injection of a sclerosing substance inside these small blood vessels. This process is very effective, not very painful and allows closing not only the injected vessels, but also many of the thinner collaterals. When there is an allergy to sclerosing substances, in cases where the patient is reluctant to use needles and even in the finest capillaries, where injection is difficult or even technically impossible, we can resort to the "Vascular" Laser. Sometimes several laser treatments are necessary and, according to the skin type, caliber and color of the dilated vessel, different types of laser can be used.
